Chapter 11: The Rice Sharing System Is Implemented
-----------------
After the dispute about whether to work in the factory or split the family had been resolved by their grandfather's decision, the Tang family implemented a rice-sharing system. This new system meant that each person would receive a specific amount of rice for their meals, and any surplus could be shared but not forcibly taken.
Tang Lao Tai Tai, the family matriarch, was the one in charge of distributing the rice. She would allocate half a bowl of her own rice to Tang Er Long (the second son), taking another half from Liu Xiu Juan (the daughter-in-law), leaving her with just two bowls for herself. This arrangement allowed Tang Er Long to have three bowls of rice per meal instead of the previous two.
Liu Xiu Juan had initially been providing three bowls of rice, but now, she was left with just two, which was insufficient for someone who did heavy physical labor. Despite the challenges, she continued to endure and took care of her children.
During this time, Tang Ai Lian, who possessed extraordinary psychic abilities, discreetly used her powers to assist her family. She would transfer her psychic energy into Liu Xiu Juan's bowl of rice, helping her regain her strength and recover from her weakened state.
The family decided to celebrate the New Year's festival with a special meal. However, due to the shortage of food caused by the ongoing difficulties in the village, they were forced to be more frugal in their preparations. The village leader, Long Jiu Sheng, decided that each family would have to make do with their available resources during the festive season. This meant that the Tang family would not receive any extra food from the collective resources.
During the New Year celebration, Tang Ai Lian was carried on her sister's back to witness the butchering of the New Year pig. She closed her eyes to block out the sight and focused on using her psychic powers to manipulate objects in the spiritual well space. She could form objects using her psychic energy, place them into the spiritual well, and then retrieve them when needed. She found great joy in this practice.
However, Tang Ai Lian was unaware that her sister, Ai Shi, had been knocked down during an argument with another child. Ai Shi accused the child of taking her pig's foot shell, and the altercation resulted in her falling onto Tang Ai Lian's back, causing her distress.
Tang Ai Lian began crying loudly, drawing attention to herself. She was not hurt, but her psychic abilities allowed her to sense the situation around her. As she continued to cry, Ai Shi joined in, condemning the child who had pushed her and vowing to report the incident to their father.
Despite her young age, Tang Ai Lian was already developing her psychic powers, enabling her to observe her surroundings and react to events with surprising awareness.
